Divine Kiss, And The Bride's Life Vision.
1:2-4
1:2; (the shulamite)Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth. For Your love is far better than wine.
Kiss: Intimacy
Mouth: The word of God
Wine: In this case wine is speaking of the blessings that God has given us in earthly circumstances. The best earthly experience.
* She is longing for intimacy with her Lord. Yearning for the affections of Jesus, she cries out to be saturated in the word of God. Her desire for God is stronger than her desire for earthly experiences.
* She sums up the whole song and her entire theology in one sentence. (Affection based obedience)
1:3;(the shulamite) Because of the fragrance of Your good ointments. Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore the virgins love you.
Fragrance: The Lords fragrance is something that moves our hearts. His emotional beauty.
Ointment poured: The unique exaltation of His name. His actions being openly revealed. The Lord's great zeal.
Virgins: The immature church.
* Through her longing the Lord reveals bits of His nature and emotions toward her. He openly reveals the attributes of His beauty to us so that it causes us to yearn for more. This is how He will capture a bored dull hearted church into His righteousness. Ultimately the fiery passion of the heart of Jesus will capture a defiled, broken, mess of a church and lead them to fall in love with Him.
1:4; (the shulamite) Draw me away! (daughters of jerusalem) We will run after You. (the shulamite) The King has brought me into His chambers. (daughters of jerusalem) We will be glad and rejoice in You. We will remember Your love more than wine.
Draw me away: Her passion for intimacy; To become an extravagant lover of God.
We will run after You: A cry for partnership with God. To serve in obedience.
The King has brought me into His chambers: The brides private place in the Lord. Preparation and incubator in to the deep Holiness and the love of God.
We will be glad and rejoice: A prophetic encouragement. We will rejoice in all seasons.
We will remember You love more than wine: In all seasons, no matter the cost, we will seek the goodness of the Lord.
* The shulamites fiery passion for intimacy with the Lord provokes the immature daughters(church) to climb up and seek after the knowledge and the passion of Jesus. No matter the cost!
